Fashion designer and digital creator Joe Ando is known for turning viral moments into wearable art. But his latest custom creation — made for Love Island USA winner Serena Page — was inspired by something few would expect: tax season.
The striking green gown was designed as part of a collaboration celebrating the launch of H&R Block’s new Creator Suite, a platform aimed at helping influencers and content creators manage their complex tax filings.
A Dress Inspired by Taxes? Yes, Really
The gown draws directly from H&R Block’s signature bright green branding. Far from a simple promotional piece, the dress was crafted with detailed hand-beading and a form-fitting jersey silhouette. Ando spent four full days perfecting the garment.

The bold green fabric wasn’t just symbolic — it was functional. The gown doubles as a literal green screen, representing the limitless creative possibilities of the digital space while also nodding to H&R Block’s role as a financial foundation for creators.
“I’ve never really worked with that kind of green before,” Ando explained. “You think, how do I make this flattering? But once we put it on Serena, it worked.”
According to Ando, Page loved the dress so much she wanted to keep it — a sign that the creative risk paid off.
Why This Collaboration Matters
Beyond the fashion statement, the partnership highlights a growing issue within the creator economy: tax confusion.
H&R Block’s 2026 Creator Pulse Survey found that many influencers are unaware that brand trips are taxable income and often don’t know which forms to file. As the digital economy expands, creators increasingly face the reality that behind the glamorous posts and events, they’re running full-scale businesses.
Ando says navigating taxes as both an artist and content creator can feel uncertain.
“There’s this weird gray space where you don’t even know if what you’re doing is considered a real job,” he shared. “It’s empowering to have resources that actually recognize what we do.”

Page echoed that sentiment, noting that when her career accelerated after her reality TV win, the financial side quickly became overwhelming.
“When your career takes off, everything gets complicated fast — brand deals, trips, projects,” she said. “Having tools built specifically for creators makes it way less intimidating.”
From Viral Content to Red Carpet Moments
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Ando has built a massive following — nearly 6 million across Instagram and TikTok — by documenting his design process in real time.
Over the years, he’s created gowns for high-profile names including:
- Dakota Johnson
- Millie Bobby Brown
- Ella Emhoff, who wore one of his designs to the 2024 Democratic National Convention
His behind-the-scenes content — whether mid-design fittings or event-day glam sessions — has become a signature part of his brand.
A Statement Beyond Style
For Ando, the green gown represents more than a creative challenge. It reflects the reality of modern entrepreneurship in the influencer era: artistry and business are intertwined.
Blending bold fashion with financial awareness may not be the most obvious pairing — but in today’s creator economy, it makes perfect sense.
