Authorities have launched a major operation near the home of missing Arizona resident Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, as investigators pursue a critical lead in the case.
Armed Teams Search Nearby Property
Heavy police presence — including armed officers, SWAT units and forensic teams — has been reported at a residence roughly two miles from Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona. Law enforcement vehicles blocked surrounding roads while investigators moved in and out of the area.
Officials confirmed the activity is directly connected to the ongoing search but have not disclosed what prompted the operation.
New Evidence Emerges
The intensified search follows reports that DNA discovered at Guthrie’s residence did not match her or anyone close to her. Investigators have also collected physical evidence in the surrounding area, including gloves found nearby, which have been sent for laboratory testing.
Authorities stress that some circulating claims — including reports that evidence was found inside the home — are inaccurate.
Suspect Description and Public Tips
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released a description of a potential suspect identified through doorbell camera footage:
- Male
- Approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” (175–177 cm)
- Average build
- Carrying a hiking-style backpack
More than 13,000 tips have been submitted since the footage was made public, prompting investigators to expand the search.

Concern for Her Health
Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her home in the middle of the night nearly two weeks ago. Authorities believe she was taken against her will and note that she requires daily medication and has limited mobility.

Her family has issued multiple public appeals, expressing hope that she is still alive and urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward for information has reportedly been increased as the search continues.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials say they are actively pursuing leads and have not ruled out any possibilities. Residents in the area have also been asked to provide security camera footage that may assist investigators.
The case remains one of the most urgent missing-person investigations in the region, with law enforcement continuing round-the-clock efforts to locate Guthrie safely.
